EPA Should Scrutinize Phthalate Risks: Report

Law360, New York (December 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Amid intensifying opposition to the use of phthalates in consumer products, the National Research Council has issued a report urging U.S. regulators to take a harder look at potential dangers posed by the controversial chemicals.

The National Research Council’s report, released last week, calls for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to examine the risks of combined exposure to phthalates, which are commonly used in cosmetics, medical devices, children’s toys and building materials.
