Samsung, Radio Shack Sued Over Cable Patent

Law360, New York (January 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A company that makes cables designed to transfer files from one computer to another has sued Radio Shack Corp., Samsung Electronics America Inc. and other companies, alleging patent infringement.

Dallas-based Data Drive Thru Inc. filed the suit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alleging that each of the defendants, including Targus Inc. and Acco Brands Corp., is selling cables that infringe one of its patents.

The patent-at-issue is U.S. Patent Number 7,108,191, issued in 2006 and titled “Intelligent computer cabling.”...
