Antitrust Suit Targets Wholesalers Supervalu, C&S

Law360, New York (January 05, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- A proposed class action filed Wednesday accuses Supervalu Inc. and C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., the two largest grocery wholesalers in the U.S., of colluding to limit wholesale competition in the Northeast and Midwest.

D&G Inc., which does business as Gary’s Foods, filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin against the two companies for violations of the Sherman Act on behalf of those who “have paid artificially inflated prices for grocery wholesale purchases and services as a result of defendants’...
