Former General Re Exec Targeted By DOJ

Law360, New York (August 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former executive at Berkshire Hathaway unit General Re Corp. who was passed over when federal prosecutors filed indictments against three of his colleagues in February has been notified that he is now a target in a U.S. Department of Justice investigation.

The DOJ’s probe centers on allegations of earnings manipulation that supposedly inflated American Insurance Group. Inc.'s loss reserves by a total of $500 million in the fourth quarter of 2000 and the first quarter of 2001.
