Whole Foods Seeks Grocers' Info To Help Fight FTC

Law360, New York (January 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Whole Foods Market Inc. has asked more than 90 grocery stores in 29 markets to hand over documents concerning their business practices, saying the information is required in its fight with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and will be kept confidential.

In a conference call Tuesday, Whole Foods executive vice president Jim Sud said the data will not be viewed by him or any other employees of the supermarket giant — only the company's outside counsel, experts for both parties and FTC attorneys involved in litigation...
