FDA Appoints 2 To Bolster Global Programs, IT

Law360, New York (January 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has appointed a new chief information officer and a new associate commissioner of international programs, as part of a strategy to update its technology and expand its worldwide oversight amid global threats to food safety.

The FDA said Monday that Lou Valdez, former deputy director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service's Office of Global Health Affairs, will lead the development of the FDA's international programs.
