Judge Again Rejects US Bid To Jail Madoff

Law360, New York (January 14, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal judge turned aside prosecutors' bid to have disgraced financier Bernard L. Madoff put in jail for violating the terms of his bail for a second time on Monday.

Judge Lawrence McKenna of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York upheld an earlier ruling by a magistrate court judge that said federal prosecutors did not make a strong enough case that Madoff was a flight risk or threat to the community to justify putting him behind bars, the Associated Press reported....
