Forest Service Overturns Its Oil-Leasing Plan

Law360, New York (January 14, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Forest Service has reversed its own plan outlining guidelines for oil and gas leasing in the Santa Fe National Forest, siding with a green group that argued the plan would open up 113,000 acres for drilling without assessing the impacts.

On Tuesday, Santa Fe, N.M.-based WildEarth Guardians announced that the Forest Service had granted its administrative appeal of the agency's amendment to the Santa Fe National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan.
