Barr Moves To Get Plan B To The Market

Law360, New York (August 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After meeting with officials from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Tuesday, Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. plans to amend its request to sell its morning-after contraceptive pill without prescription within the next two weeks.

Barr spokeswoman Carol Cox said that the company’s impression was that the FDA would move fairly quickly after receiving the company’s amendment.

Last week, the agency unexpectedly announced that it is considering allowing the drug to be sold without prescription to women over the age of 18.
