AstraZeneca Fires Off New Suit Over Nexium Patents

Law360, New York (January 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- AstraZeneca AB has targeted another generic-drug maker over Nexium-related patents, filing an infringement suit against Sandoz Inc. to protect its hold on the lucrative acid reflux medication.

The complaint, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court in the District of New Jersey, alleges Sandoz has been engaging in activities directed toward infringement of five patents, including by submitting an abbreviated new drug application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, among other things.
