E.C. Turns Up Heat In DVD Probe

Law360, New York (August 9, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has reportedly dispatched investigators on a mission to Hollywood to find out whether manufacturers of high-definition DVDs are squeezing out competitors through exclusive deals with studios and computer manufacturers.

The investigators are questioning Hollywood studios about whether they have been forced into contracts with technology giants, the New York Times reported Wednesday. Studios have been asked to disclose any communication with technology companies over high-definition DVDs that may be contained in e-mails, faxes, PowerPoint presentations, meeting notes, internal reports and verbal conversations....
