IP Practice: K&L Gates

Law360, New York (January 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- With patent litigation becoming a regular part of doing business, many companies are looking to counsel to help limit costs, according to David T. McDonald, co-leader of K&L Gates LLP’s intellectual property practice.

“Patent litigation was once a one-time event,” McDonald said. Now, companies want to litigate “efficiently or cost-effectively as it becomes a more steady presence in the area.”

According to McDonald, whose practice focuses on litigation, companies must have a strategy if they want to keep their IP budgets under control.
