Caliper Sues Shimadzu Over DNA Research Patents

Law360, New York (January 26, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Caliper Life Sciences Inc. has slammed a Japanese technology company with an infringement suit over 11 patents used in the study of DNA and RNA.

Caliper filed the suit against Shimadzu Corp. on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alleging that the Kyoto, Japan-based defendant’s MCE-202 MultiNA instrument system infringes its patents.

Shimadzu maintains offices in Plano, Texas, and therefore falls under the jurisdiction of the Eastern District of Texas, according to Caliper.
