International Patent Applications Slowed In '08: WIPO

Law360, New York (January 27, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- International patent filings rose by just 2.4 percent in 2008 — a modest rate of growth compared to the average growth rate of 9.3 percent in the previous three years, according to a report by the United Nations’ intellectual property agency.

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., China’s telecom equipment manufacturing giant, topped the list of companies that filed the most international patent applications last year.
