Texas Hospital Settles Charges It Bullied Insurers

Law360, New York (January 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Houston's largest hospital system has agreed to a five-year injunction to settle the Texas attorney general's charges that it pressured insurance providers such as Aetna Inc. not to add competing hospitals to their coverage networks.

Under the injunction lodged in state court simultaneously with the attorney general's complaint, Memorial Hermann Healthcare System will be prohibited from certain contracting practices for the next five years. However, the hospital refused to admit to any wrongdoing.
