Georgia-Pacific Unit To Pay In Disability Suit

Law360, New York (January 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A subsidiary of Georgia-Pacific LLC is set to fork over $75,000 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit brought by an employee who claimed the paper products manufacturer and distributor failed to accommodate her fibromyalgia.

The settlement, announced Tuesday by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, resolves charges by plaintiff Janet Stege that Georgia-Pacific Corrugated violated the Americans with Disabilities Act when it stopped accommodating her fibromyalgia, a chronic condition marked by widespread musculoskeletal pain, severe fatigue and disturbed sleep.
