Divestiture Paves Way For Getinge, Datascope Merger

Law360, New York (January 29, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Swedish medical giant Getinge AB has tentatively satisfied the Federal Trade Commission's concerns about its proposed $864 million takeover of rival Datascope Corp., which has agreed to unload a product line in exchange for agency approval of the deal.

On Thursday, the FTC revealed that it had granted a consent order in the case, with the agreement hinging on Datascope's divestiture of its endoscopic vessel harvesting product line to an agency-approved buyer within 10 days of the merger becoming final.
