Ex-BASF Workers Win Class Status In Age Bias Suit

Law360, New York (February 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- After a long-fought battle, former employees of BASF Corp. have been awarded class status in their age discrimination lawsuit against the U.S. affiliate of the German chemical giant.

Judge Stephen Smith Jr. of the Superior Court of New Jersey certified the class in an order Jan. 30, more than four years after BASF was first hit with claims that it targeted older workers for the ax when the company underwent restructuring.
