Altnet Sues StreamCast For Patent Infringement

Law360, New York (August 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- While it has been accused of encouraging file-sharing, Altnet Inc. doesn’t share is its patents. The company has commenced patent infringement proceedings against StreamCast Networks Inc., maker of the once popular Morpheus P2P network, and its CEO, Michael Weiss.

In a press release issued Tuesday, Altnet said it has sued StreamCast in the U.S. District Court of the Central District of California for violations of its “True Names” patents.
