Punitive Damages Claim Dropped From Suit V. Cessna

Law360, New York (February 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has dismissed a claim for punitive damages against Cessna Aircraft Co. in a product liability suit filed by the families of nine passengers who died in an airplane crash near Naches, Wash.

Judge Kathryn H. Vratil issued an order Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas tossing a fraud claim, which sought punitive damages against Cessna, from a consolidated complaint filed in multidistrict litigation over the Cessna 208 series.
