Health Net Agrees To $14M Deal In Rescission Suits

Law360, New York (February 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Health Net has agreed to pay almost $14 million to settle two lawsuits over allegations that the Los Angeles-based insurer unlawfully rescinded coverage for more than 800 people to avoid paying hefty medical bills.

The settlement — which covers a private class action suit as well as a suit brought by Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo — won preliminary approval from the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, and will go up for final court approval in May, according to William Shernoff, an attorney for...
