EPA Settles NY Superfund Suit For $4M

Law360, New York (February 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Federal regulators have reached a deal with numerous companies accused of dumping hazardous waste at the Peter Cooper Superfund site, netting roughly $4 million for the cleanup of the property in western New York.

The consent decree, finalized Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, resolves the allegations against all 19 defendants and lays out plans for a landfill and park at the site, which had been used by tanneries and other industries as a dump for toxic sludge....
