Nestle To Fight $38M Greek Antitrust Fine

Law360, New York (February 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Switzerland-based Nestle SA intends to fight a $38 million fine imposed by Greece's antitrust authority, which alleges that Nestle abused its dominant position in the instant-coffee market.

The company issued a statement on Friday confirming that the Greek Competition Commission had fined the company €29.9 million, or about $38 million, for alleged antitrust violations.

The company said it intends to appeal the decision. "Nestle vigorously rejects these allegations," company spokeswoman Edie Burge said in an e-mail message.
