Acacia Unit, Edwards Settle Catheter Patent Suit

Law360, New York (February 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- An Acacia Research Corp. subsidiary has settled a patent lawsuit it filed last year against rival Edwards Lifesciences over a patent related to catheter valves.

Acacia subsidiary Cardio Access LLC has entered into a patent licensing agreement with Edwards, resolving litigation between the two companies in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Acacia announced Friday. The details of the settlement are confidential.

An Edwards spokeswoman declined to comment on the settlement.
