Court Allows Delta To Buy United's NY-London Route

Law360, New York (August 17, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- A judge has cleared the way for Delta Air Lines Inc. to purchase United Airlines Inc.’s right to fly between New York and London, and ruled that Delta can hold on to that right after it exits bankruptcy.

Judge Adlai Hardin gave the green light to the $21 million deal Tuesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

“Delta [has] articulated good, sufficient and sound business justifications and compelling circumstances for entering into the agreement,” Hardin wrote in court documents....
