Trash Co. Gets Claims Dumped From Age Bias Suit

Law360, New York (February 19, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Waste collection company Republic Services Inc. has won in part its bid to toss claims from a long-running age discrimination suit launched by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of more than three dozen employees.

In a 120-page order Monday, Judge David Alan Ezra of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada granted Republic's motion for summary judgment on claims of disparate treatment by 19 workers and the EEOC's claim that age bias was a companywide practice.
