Visa Sued Over Text Message Charge Alert Patent

Law360, New York (February 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A patent-holding company and its exclusive licensee have sued Visa Inc. for allegedly infringing a patent related to a charge card transaction method that sends text message notifications to cardholders in real time.

Calabrese Stemer LLC and license holder Charge Notification Services Corp. Inc. launched the suit Thursday in the U.S District Court for the Southern District of Florida, claiming that Visa has advertised a service that directly and literally infringes several claims of the patent-in-suit.
