US Unseals FCA Suit Over Lexapro, Celexa

Law360, New York (February 25, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Federal authorities have unsealed a complaint accusing Forest Laboratories Inc. of bribing doctors to prescribe the antidepressants Celexa and Lexapro and marketing the drugs for pediatric use without approval.

The U.S. Department of Justice claims the New York pharmaceutical company violated the False Claims Act by causing thousands of false claims for the drugs to be submitted to federal health care programs, according to a civil complaint unsealed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
