CFTC Investigates Price Moves Of US Oil Fund LP

Law360, New York (February 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- As part of a broad investigation into the effect national oil market trades may have had on oil prices, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has reportedly launched a probe into trades of crude-oil contracts made earlier this month by the U.S. Oil Fund LP, an exchange-traded fund.

CFTC regulators confirmed late Thursday that the agency was investigating USO and other investors regarding their “roll” into a new contract Feb. 6 that may have coincided with significant changes in oil prices, the Wall Street Journal reported...
