Judge Cuts Damages By $3M In Shure Earphone Case

Law360, New York (March 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A $4.6 million damage award against audio electronics company Shure Inc. in a patent suit over earphones has been cut to $1.4 million, after the judge overseeing the case ruled that the record didn't support a finding in favor of plaintiff Hearing Components Inc. with respect to Shure's “straight nozzle” products.

Judge Ron Clark of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas signed off on an order on Friday partially granting Shure's bid for judgment of noninfringement as a matter of law. A...
