EC Raids EDF Offices In Ongoing Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (March 11, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has raided the offices of French electricity giant Electricite de France on suspicion that the company has engaged in a conspiracy to artificially boost the prices on the French electricity wholesale market.

The EC confirmed the surprise inspections of EDF's premises that took place on Tuesday, calling the move a “preliminary step” into probes of possible anti-competitive practices at the state-sponsored utility.
