Wash. Senate OKs Bill On Renewable Energy Goals

Law360, New York (March 11, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A bill that would ease requirements on utilities to supply part of their energy through renewable energy sources such as wind and solar passed the Washington State Senate on Tuesday.

Bill 5840 passed the state Senate by a margin of 27-21 Tuesday, and now heads to the Washington House of Representatives. The proposed legislation increases some renewable energy targets, but allows utilities to count conservation efforts and other sources toward those targets.
