Judge OKs $300M CWA Deal Over Nashville Sewers

Law360, New York (March 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has approved an agreement requiring the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to pay between $300 million and $400 million to stop raw sewage from overflowing its sewer systems.

Judge Robert L. Echols of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee on Thursday approved a consent decree among Metro, the state of Tennessee and the U.S. to resolve violations of the Clean Water Act and water quality violations under state law.
