General Maritime Unit Fined $1M For Waste Oil Plot

Law360, New York (March 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has sentenced a General Maritime Corp. subsidiary to pay a $1 million fine and serve the maximum five years of probation for its role in an alleged scheme to discharge waste oil directly into the sea from the tanker M/T Genmar Defiance during a November 2007 voyage to Corpus Christi, Texas.
