Holding Company Extends Patent Crusade

Law360, New York (August 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Patent holding company Ronald A. Katz Technology Licensing L.P. has filed another patent infringement suit, asserting 17 patents covering communications and messaging technology against over a dozen companies.

The suit targets a diverse range of companies, including Aetna Inc., The Kroger Co., Petmed Express Inc., Safeway Inc., and Premiere Global Services Inc., among others.

The complaint alleges that the companies infringed 17 RAK patents by employing automated telephone systems “that allow their customers to order prescriptions and/or obtain other services over the telephone.”
