Obama Asks ABA To Evaluate Federal Judiciary Picks

Law360, New York (March 17, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- In a break from the policies of the previous administration, President Obama has asked the American Bar Association to resume its role in evaluating the qualifications of candidates for federal judiciary positions prior to their formal nominations.

ABA President H. Thomas Wells Jr. said Tuesday that the Obama administration had asked the ABA to revive the original role of the Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, which evaluates the professional qualifications of potential judicial nominees.
