$11.4M JCM Award In Casino Device Dispute Upheld

Law360, New York (March 19, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A district judge has upheld a jury verdict awarding $11.4 million in damages to Japan Cash Machine Co. Ltd. in its spat with MEI Inc. over two patents covering devices used in casino games, dismissing allegations of inequitable conduct against JCM, but finding one of the patents invalid.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada ruled Monday that MEI’s CashFlow SC Series violated four separate claims of a patent for a bill-handling apparatus used in gaming machines.
