Obama Names Picks For Energy, Labor Posts

Law360, New York (March 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- President Obama announced Thursday that he has appointed green energy advocate Jon Wellinghoff to serve as chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and revealed his nominees for key energy and labor jobs.

Wellinghoff, who has been acting chairman of FERC since January, has said his priorities include opening wholesale electric markets to renewable resources and streamlining the distribution of resources in those markets.

Wellinghoff also plans to promote the use of advanced technology and system integration to boost the country's energy infrastructure.
