LG, GE Prevail In Whirlpool Patent Lawsuit

Law360, New York (August 29, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has dismissed a patent infringement case that Whirlpool Corp. brought against LG Electronics Inc. and General Electric Co., saying details of Whirlpool’s patents were found in other company’s machines and patent applications.

Whirlpool Corporation and Whirlpool Patents Company brought the suit in 2004 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan in an attempt to get LG’s Profile Harmony washer, which is sold by GE, off the market. Whirlpool said the companies were infringing on two of its patents.
