University of California Takes Patent Crown For Tenth Consecutive Year

Law360, New York (February 11, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- For the tenth consecutive year, the University of California topped the list of universities receiving the most patents last year, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office said.

California’s public university system was awarded 439 patents in 2003, up from 431 the year before, according to preliminary statistics.

The University of California soundly beat the runner-up, also from the Golden State, the California Institute of Technology, with 110 patents under its belt in 2003.
