SAG Splinter Group Calls For Industry Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (March 30, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Members of a dissident faction of the Screen Actors Guild are reportedly calling on the U.S. Department of Justice to launch a probe into what they say is anti-competitive activity in the entertainment industry.

The group, mostly participants in the Membership First coalition, argues that massive entertainment conglomerates that do everything from financing to distributing to showing motion pictures have unfettered and improper control over the industry, according to Variety.
