High Court Affirms $79.5M Award In Philip Morris Case

Law360, New York (March 31, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld without comment the Oregon Supreme Court's mandate that Altria Group Inc.'s Philip Morris USA division pay $79.5 million in punitive damages to the estate of a former smoker.
