CPSC Head Beseeches Obama To Fill Vacancy

Law360, New York (April 2, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Amid increasing uproar over newly enacted product safety standards, the head of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has implored President Obama to appoint a new chairman in the hopes that filling the vacancy will better enable the agency to deal with the mounting complaints.

There has been a vacancy at the commission for nearly three years, leaving just two commissioners to vote on policy decisions, CPSC acting Chairman Nancy Nord said in a letter to Obama on Wednesday.
