Ex-Gen Re CFO Gets 18 Months Over $600M AIG Fraud

Law360, New York (April 2, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The former chief financial officer of General Reinsurance Corp. has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for her alleged participation in a reinsurance fraud scheme that cost American International Group Inc. shareholders about $600 million.

Judge Christopher F. Droney of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut on Thursday sentenced Elizabeth A. Monrad to a year and a half in prison, as well as ordering the former Gen Re executive to pay a $250,000 fee.
