Northrop Settles Qui Tam Suit For $325M

Law360, New York (April 3, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. says it will fork over $325 million to settle the U.S. government's claims that a company Northrop acquired made defective microelectronic parts for spy satellites, marking one of the nation's largest settlements in a whistleblower case.

The settlement, which Northrop announced Thursday, resolves a claim by the U.S. Department of Justice stemming from a scientist's whistleblower allegations that TRW Inc., which Northrop acquired in 2002, provided defective parts for a spy satellite program in the 1990s.
