French Antitrust Fines For Defibrillator Cos. Upheld

Law360, New York (April 09, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- A Paris appeals court has dismissed a suit by several defibrillator manufacturers, including Medtronic France, seeking to block a €2.6 million ($3.45 million) fine levied by France's antitrust regulator in connection with an alleged horizontal market-fixing scheme.

The Court of Appeals of Paris on Wednesday upheld a 2007 ruling from France's Council of Competition ordering the French divisions of defibrillator makers Biotronik Inc., Medtronic Inc., ELA Medical Inc. and St. Jude Medical Inc., as well as Boston Scientific Corp.'s Guidant France, to pay fines over claims...
