Womble Carlyle Cuts Salaries, Staff

Law360, New York (April 15, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Joining a growing list of law firms that have decided to curb paychecks in the current economic climate, Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice PLLC is cutting the salaries of attorneys and paralegals by 10 percent, effective immediately, in addition to laying off staff members.

After a confidential internal memo on the cuts was leaked to the blog Above the Law, a Womble Carlyle spokesman acknowledged that the firm was instituting a 10 percent reduction in salary for timekeepers.
