City Seeks $4M From DOD For Dutch Harbor Cleanup

Law360, New York (April 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An Alaskan city is seeking $4 million from the U.S. Department of Defense in a lawsuit claiming the government should help pay for the cleanup of part of a former military installation contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls.

The city of Unalaska claims the military dumped electrical transformers containing the hazardous material at Fort Mears on Amaknak Island, according to the suit filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska.
