Bayer Agrees To Settle Some Contrast Dye Suits

Law360, New York (April 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bayer AG has reached settlements with some plaintiffs in a slew of cases the German drugmaker faces over claims that its gadolinium-based injectable contrast agent Magnevist can cause serious health problems in patients with weak kidneys.

The company, which is one of several makers of the dyes that have been targeted by a rush of product liability suits, has entered into negotiations in roughly 30 to 40 such cases, according to Peter Burg of Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh Jardine PC, who co-chairs the plaintiffs' steering committee...
