Former Citigroup Banker Cleared In China Life Case

Law360, New York (September 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Years after her suspension from Citigroup for allegedly falsifying documents, former Chinese banking star Margaret Ren has finally received the SEC verdict she was hoping for.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission cleared Ren of any wrongdoing related to an initial share sale of $3.5 billion by the China Life Insurance Company.

“I am pleased but not surprised with the conclusion of this matter,” Ren said. “The SEC has expressed its appreciation for my cooperation.”
